Memorial Service
Clarehouse invites families to a bi-annual Memorial Service in early spring and early fall honoring all guests who died during the previous months. The service is a time of remembering and celebrating the lives of all those who have been entrusted into the care of Clarehouse.
August 28, 2011
The Clarehouse Memorial Service was celebrated Sunday, August 28th in honor of those who died at Clarehouse from September 1, 2010 to February 28, 2011. We believe it is important to create a sacred time and place to gather and remember those whose journeys we have shared. The service gives our guests’ families and friends a meaningful opportunity to reunite with staff, volunteers and board members.
The service was beautifully prepared by Mike Douthitt, Support Services Director. Rev. Alan McBroom, Chaplain, St. Francis Hospice shared his personal reflections and experience with the loss of a loved one. The litany of names of loved ones lost was read, and family members came forward to select a butterfly memento to take in remembrance. Storytelling followed as family and friends shared photos, memories, laughter and tears.
We are grateful to pianist Tom Wolf and cellist Charlene Debus for their gifts of music and volunteers Eve O’Kelley, Lucille Brown, Becky Cotney, Judy Cairl, Barbara Lawson, and Evelyn Lee for hosting the reception.
The next Clarehouse Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, February 19, 2012.
