Timeline

Clarehouse is funded entirely by charitable giving. Our fund-raising efforts include a combination of individual donor gifts, foundation grants, corporate donations and matching gifts, and donations from civic organizations and faith communities. The following is a summary of significant milestones in the history of our organization.

January 2001

Clarehouse is formed as a 501c3 non-profit corporation by a group of committed individuals with a passion for easing the burden of those dying in need.

February 2002

Clarehouse acquires approximately five acres of property located at 76th and Mingo upon which its permanent facility will be built.

June 2002

Clarehouse pays off the debt for the acquired property and begins moving forward with plans for the new permanent facility.

October 2003

Clarehouse opens a three bedroom temporary facility and by the end of its first year of operation Clarehouse serves more than 65 guests and their families.

October 2004

The organization’s first fundraising event, Under the Harvest Moon is held and is not only a financial success, but also a great friend-raiser.

February 2005

Clarehouse holds its first memorial service in memory of its guests. The service offered comfort to families, volunteers and staff, as well as meaningful reunions.

March 2005

Clarehouse’s Executive Director, Kelley Scott is presented the prestigious Pinnacle Award in the category of Health by The Tulsa Women’s Foundation and The Mayor’s Commission on the Status of Women for her efforts in the development of Clarehouse and her service at Clarehouse.

May 2005

Clarehouse expands its temporary facility from 3 guest rooms to 6 guest rooms.

July 2005

With great success the organization holds its first summer event called “Cooking Up Memories.”

October 2005

Clarehouse holds the 2nd Annual Under the Harvest Moon Event. The event tops the previous year in funds raised for Clarehouse.

October 2006

The annual Under the Harvest Moon event is held and again tops the previous year’s success. There is a 33% increase in attendance as well.

December 2006

Clarehouse establishes the inaugural 2007 Circle of Friends to recognize a special group of friends that help Clarehouse meet the challenge of supporting our newly expanded 8 bed facility.

October 2007

The annual Under The Harvest Moon event is held with great success, once again raising $70,000. It is the organization’s most successful event to date.

February 2008

The Clarehouse model of care is recognized nationally for the 2008 “Innovations in End-of-Life Care Award” by the National Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association at the organization’s annual convention in Tampa, Florida.

Clarehouse kicks off a campaign for Clarehouse, “Welcome Home!”

Clarehouse is honored statewide by being recognized as the winner in the category of Community Health Services at the inaugural ONE (Oklahoma Non-Profit Excellence) Awards through the Oklahoma Center for Nonprofits.

July 2008

Clarehouse celebrates Groundbreaking for the new home.

August 2008

Construction is in progress under the management of Flintco, Inc.

December 2008

The Welcome Home Campaign stands at 97% of the $7.6 million goal

January 2009 Welcome Home Campaign closes on January 31, 2009. Donors exceed the $7.6 million goal.

April 2009

Clarehouse celebrates “Topping Out” at the new home on April 16, 2009

August 2009

Preparations are made to relocate.

Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting for new home.

August 24, 2009 – Clarehouse care begins in new home.

August 2010

Clarehouse celebrates 1st anniversary in new home.
